AFSCME recommendations for Chicago City Council
On Tuesday, February 24, AFSCME members will have the opportunity to elect Chicago aldermen who have pledged to stand up for working families in our city.
Too often the city’s priorities are being driven by big business and the wealthy. It’s time to ensure that the voices of working people and the concerns of our communities are heard.
Privatization of city services, like parking meters, hurts us all. Safe streets and clean neighborhoods are important to us all. City services – support for seniors, health clinics, environmental protection – help us all.
Here are the aldermanic candidates recommended by AFSCME. If a ward is not listed, either there was no endorsement or a candidate was running unopposed.
Many of these candidates are up against opponents who got big bucks from big business. To help AFSCME-backed candidates win on February 24, volunteer today to help with phone banking or community outreach. Call Minnie Perez at (312) 641-6060 right away to help elect City Council members who will stand up for us.
