Never Quit: 42nd AFSCME International Convention

Labor unions in our country today are fending off the fiercest attacks in generations even while continuing to lead the fight for economic justice, not just for union members but for all working people. We never quit.

And that’s the theme of this year’s 42nd AFSCME International Convention—“Never Quit.” Like the public service workers AFSCME represents, our union is on the job every day, never failing to take on the challenges before us.

More than 300 AFSCME Council 31 convention delegates and alternates—and thousands more from across the country—are headed to Las Vegas from July 18 to 22 to make crucial decisions about the union’s vision and direction.

In addition to hearing and voting on key resolutions, delegates will vote to elect our AFSCME International President, Secretary-Treasurer and Vice Presidents. They will hear inspiring words from national leaders, from presidential candidate Hillary Clinton to North Carolina NAACP President Reverend Doctor William Barber II.

And on July 20, convention attendees will rally in solidarity with culinary workers who are fighting for good jobs and fair treatment at the Trump International Hotel.

This gathering promises to strengthen our resolve to keep fighting for an economy that works for all of us, not just those at the top.

Stay tuned for live convention updates on Facebook and Twitter, and a full convention report in the next issue of On the Move.
