VIDEO: Republican senior advocate says Rauner is “wrong for seniors” and Illinois

As new evidence in the deadly nursing home scandal involving Bruce Rauner’s private equity firm is being presented in a Florida federal court, a long-time senior advocate and Republican voter, Margaret Niederer, is warning families in a video released by Illinois Freedom PAC that “Bruce Rauner is wrong for seniors and wrong for the people of Illinois.”

Niederer is a former Illinois Long Term Care Regional Ombudsman who protected the rights of residents in long-term care facilities for more than a decade.

During the primary, she said she was horrified by the revelations of abuse and neglect at Rauner-backed nursing homes. In July after Lee Newspapers reported abuse and neglect of GTCR-owned disability homes in Arizona, Texas and Florida, Niederer penned an op-ed for the State Journal-Register, which read in part:

I am all too familiar with long-term care companies skirting their responsibility of providing person-centered care to their patients. Horrendous incidents like this don’t happen repeatedly by accident. They occur in poorly run facilities owned by companies that value profit margins over the lives and well-being of residents.

We need to stop Bruce Rauner from becoming governor – sign up today to talk to voters in your community about why Rauner must be defeated on November 4.
