Tell Gov. Quinn to veto Chicago pension cuts!

Gov. Pat Quinn has until Monday, June 9, to decide whether to sign or veto Senate Bill 1922.

PENSION CALL-IN DAYS – JUNE 5 & 6
TELL GOV. QUINN TO VETO SB 1922
(312) 814-2121

SB 1922 unfairly and unconstitutionally slashes the pensions of City of Chicago employees and retirees by some 30 percent. It makes deep cuts to cost-of-living-adjustments (COLAs) that protect seniors from inflation, freezes COLAs for up to four years and forces current employees to pay more out of every paycheck for a reduced benefit. (Click here for more information on SB 1922.)

Mayor Rahm Emanuel and his corporate allies are putting pressure on Quinn to approve pension cuts – city employees and retirees need to speak loudly in response.

NOW is the time to act – AFSCME and its partners in the We Are One Chicago union coalition are asking all City of Chicago employees and retirees to call the governor on Thursday, June 5, and Friday, June 6, and tell him to VETO SB 1922.

Call the governor’s office and leave a strong message like the following:

"I urge Governor Quinn to veto SB 1922. It jeopardizes retirement security for thousands of active and retired City of Chicago employees. It is unfair and unconstitutional."

It’s down to the wire – make the call today!
