Voluntary furlough program gets underway

AFSCME members in state government are encouraged to participate in the new voluntary furlough program which is intended to help the state cope with its dire budget shortfall.

No state employee can be mandated to take an unpaid furlough day, but employees who take furlough days will be eligible for "incentive days"--paid days off in conjunction with major holidays (on a 2-1 basis).

Forms to request furlough days are now available through agency personnel or labor relations offices.
