Cook County employees send message to Preckwinkle

Cook County employees in 15 AFSCME locals are delivering a strong message to County Board President Toni Preckwinkle: Her demands are unfair and county employees will not let her balance the budget on their backs.

Through 20 months of contract talks, the Preckwinkle administration has refused to back off from its unfair demands:

The administration is effectively proposing that hard-working employees receive NO increase in take-home pay in the next contract.

The AFSCME Cook County bargaining committee has rejected these demands over and over, but Preckwinkle hasn’t gotten the message. It’s time for that to change. It’s time for the county to treat employees fairly and with respect for the work they do!

Cook County employees should call President Preckwinkle’s Office at (312) 603-6400 and deliver this message:

It’s not fair to demand massive cost shifting in health insurance while refusing to offer a fair wage increase!
