In Chicago, voters will have the opportunity to open up a new era on the Chicago City Council. For the first time in a long time, we can elect a significant number of aldermen who won’t be a rubber stamp for any mayor—and who will stand up for working people.
For Chicago City Council, AFSCME recommends:

- Sue Sadlowski Garza (10th Ward)
- Rafael Yanez (15th Ward)
- Toni Foulkes (16th Ward)
- Lona Lane (18th Ward)
- Willie Cochran (20th Ward)
- Tara Stamps (37th Ward)
- John Arena (45th Ward)
Voters in the Quad Cities, Joliet, Champaign and Springfield have the chance to elect leaders supported by AFSCME who will support public employees and labor unions.
In Springfield, AFSCME recommends:
- Mayor: Jim Langfelder
- City Council: T. Ray McJunkins (1), Teresa Haley (2), Scott McFarland (4), Sam Cahnman (5), Michael Higgins (7), Kris Theilen (8), Jim Donelan (9), Phil Chiles (10)
In the Quad Cities, AFSCME recommends:
- Rock Island City Council: Joshua Schip (6), Virgil Mayberry (2)
- Moline City Council: Sandra O’Neil (3)
- Moline School Board: Cecelia O’Brien
- Silvis City Council: Kathryn Hall (2), Bob Rockwell (3)
In Joliet, AFSCME recommends:
- Mayor: Bob O’Dekirk
- City Council: Larry Hug (1), Bret Gould (2)
- Park District Board: Joe Mutz, Glen Marcum
- Joliet Township High School Board: Don Dickinson
In Champaign, AFSCME recommends Don Gerard for mayor.
In Jefferson County, AFSCME recommends a YES vote on a referendum to ensure adequate funding to public safety services, including police, fire fighters and EMTs.
